I love learning, I love stories, and I love learning from stories. There’s nothing like being so captivated by a story that you lose track of time. Great stories can ignite emotions in the depths of one’s soul and unlock new ways of thinking–that’s why I love them so much. Here are some stories that [...]

My word for the month: OVERWHELMED. I have been so overwhelmed with all the things that I need to do: between Christmas shopping and Christmas gatherings, weddings and training sessions, I am just about ready to fall apart. Plus I need to start preparing for a big move in January. Whew! I’ve been so overwhelmed [...]

What I’m Loving This Week: Holiday Treats!

3 December 2010

1) Cakes by Camille Morato Ocampo - One of my best friends, Camille, makes awesome cakes and pastries. It's really such a crime to be so near such delicious treats all the time. On one birthday of mine, she surprised me with a strawberry and cream cake because she knew how much I loved strawberries. I seriously fell in love with that cake. She's now selling that cake together with her specialty: the Mango Brulee cake (she also makes a version without mangoes, which is just as good, too!). Strawberries and Cream Cake (PhP 900) - Light chiffon cake with fresh strawberry slices folded into whipped cream. Mango Brulee Cake (PhP 800) - Mangoes cubes and sweet cream in between layers of chiffon cake. If you're looking for something to bring to your next Christmas party, I highly recommend these, not just because Camille's my friend, but because they're really good! :) To order, you can contact Camille at +63916-7457729. Gift ideas for Christmas (and for the rest of the year!)

18 November 2010

Christmas is known as a season of giving, but it's also a stressful season for a lot of people because they feel like they don't have anything to give. The truth is that you and I actually have so much, but oftentimes we're too worried about the state of our wallets and bank accounts that we forget about all the other wonderful things that we can give. [...]

1) A high-level leadership question by Steven Furtick – In this blog post, Furtick presents “a simple, high-level leadership question you can ask every day that could significantly enhance the way you lead.” He hit the nail on the head. Great advice. 2) Before You Make a Career Change by Maurilio Amorim – Because I [...]

Here are some blog posts I loved this week: 1) Creating a Great Experience by Brad Lomenick @ Collide Magazine - Brad Lomenick is the head of Catalyst, one of the most dynamic and creative movements I’ve ever encountered. Their events are truly excellent, enough to rival an MTV awards show. Well, they don’t spend [...]

Do all leaders really have to be readers?

18 October 2010

There is a famous phrase that says “Leaders are readers.” I can’t verify if this has been consistently true throughout history, but on a personal level, I do know this for sure: reading helps me learn better, and learning helps me lead better. Personally, I prefer reading books. I can go on and on about [...]
