30-Day Blog Challenge

Sunday reflections.

I know, I’ve been absent these past couple of days! And such a shame, since this month is almost done. I’d love to say that I was faithful with blogging the last 30 days, except that isn’t true. However, this exercise really did help me blog more often than I normally would…so here’s hoping I get to keep it up for the rest of the year! In the meantime, I came across this list (I don’t remember how I found...

My favorite song of the month :)

The Way That You Love Me by Anthony Evans This heart breaks slowly telling me what are you doing to me when I pray, do what it takes I didn’t know I’d lose everything Everything that meant anything to me is gone Something right has to come from this wrong It is the hurt that breaks me It is the pain that pulls me to my knees And the tears, they’ve changed me to what I couldn’t see, become so...

Small pond or big pond?

I’m sure you’ve been asked this question before: would you rather be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a big pond? I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer, since each person is different. What works for one won’t work for another. I’ve found that even with different reasons, my answer is still the same after all these years. And I just want to clarify–for me, it’s not about ambition–it just goes back...

Where to look: Past, present, or future?

Did you have a past life? I feel like I had one…or at least, two. :) There was the time I lived in New Jersey/New York. I took a certificate course in publishing after I graduated from college. I loved living in New York. I loved that you could just walk out the door and go anywhere you wanted to, and try something new without much effort. Just walk on the sidewalk, hop on the subway, and off you go....

MISMO!

Last night was a great night. Our high school barkada (Poveda + LSGH) tries to meet up at least every other month, and last night, we decided to have dinner at Pancake House at Bonifacio High Street, then we headed over to Hobbes & Landes to bond over our new favorite board game, MISMO! MISMO is a fun (aka ‘kwela’) board game created by a bunch of creative OFWs! Basically, each person is given 10 cards with different words, names,...

Better late than never :)

Aww phooey. I missed a day on my 30-day blog challenge. To make up for it, I’m just going to have to post twice today! Yesterday (Sunday) was truly a family day. First up, we had a lunch reunion with the our Claudio “superclan!” It was great to see my second cousins again! After that, our sub-clan (is there such a term? I’m talking about our immediate relatives) went to Razon’s to have some halo-halo, then I capped the day...

I ♥ UP!

I watched UP yesterday with my family and–just like the rest of the world–I loved it. I saw this on the Disney website today. I wanna make one! Click on the photo to go to the Disney site where you can download the tempate and instructions. Enjoy! :)...

An inspiring [true] story!

Early this month, I had blogged about the recent PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) draft here, and my friends Rob and Sam Johnson blogged about it here. For us, it was especially meaningful, because two of our friends–Lamont Waters and Mike Burtscher–were drafted to play for the Sta. Lucia Realtors and the Alaska Aces, respectively. Our blogs talk about how inspiring their stories are, but yesterday, Rob tweeted about this article by Shaan Bermudez-Hizon, which goes deeper into Mike’s story. Read...

What a night! :)

Today, I decided to take a Sabbath rest, since I didn’t get to rest much last weekend. I had a lunch date with my nephew, Tristan, then went off to Greenhills, walked around the bookstore, and had my favorite Sunrise drink at Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I was hooked up with the new tunes on my Shuffle (thank you, Ganns! REALLY! I love ’em all!) Then I went to the Fort and hung out for a bit with my...

Okay, Disney, you’ve got my attention. :)

I got to watch this on YouTube this week and I found myself liking this catchy song. The lyrics are simple but powerful, especially for the young set. I like that they brought these tween/teen idols together to come up with a song that encourages people to make a difference. Definitely something for your children or your younger siblings/cousins/nephews/nieces! On the iTunes music store, people have been commenting that it’s just another way for Disney to make money (although net...

On humility.

You know those days, weeks, months, or seasons that frustrate you because you feel like nothing is going your way? How do you respond? “Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.” -Proverbs 18:12 Sometimes it’s easier to live in denial, but we have another option: to simply embrace those days and let God change our hearts to prepare us for better things than we could ever imagine. * * * If you want to receive...

Internet randomness: Facebook movie + Big universe + Alaskan Cruise

Stuff I found on the internet this past week: 1) Facebook on the big screen…hmmm. Are they serious? I came across this article and this video interview with producer Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing, A Few Good Men), where he talks about why he took on the project. And I quote, “If you ask me why I said yes, I’m not sure I can give you a clear answer, but it’s the fastest I’ve ever said yes to anything.” Now...

Inspiration-to-go!

My friend, Mariel (a great writer with a great blog!),  recently posted a blog about another friend of ours, Maya, who came up with these awesome cards. Check them out in Maya’s Etsy site, Pocket Inspiration. I love ’em! I don’t know what inspires me more…the cards or Maya’s life! Mariel, Maya, and I used to work for the same magazine publishing company, and I’ve always had high respect for these women because apart from the fact that they’re great...
